Regenerative Agave Program
Los Altos de Jalisco
Agave tequilana (blue agave)
2023 – present
This project seeks to accelerate the transition toward regenerative agriculture practices in the cultivation of Agave tequilana, fostering innovation and collaboration among producers and companies through a territorial innovation network and a learning community. It promotes a shift in the productive paradigm to accelerate regenerative practices that restore soil health, improve water infiltration and retention, strengthen biodiversity, and reduce emissions throughout the agave value chain. Its goal is to scale these practices to thousands of hectares across the agave-growing region, demonstrating that productivity and ecosystem restoration can go hand in hand.
WORK AREAS
A collaborative space for sharing knowledge, connecting experiences among producers and companies, and encouraging a shift toward regenerative agricultural models.
Direct support to pilot, adapt, and scale practices such as cover cropping, reduced tillage, optimized nutrition, and hydrological design to regenerate soils and enhance productivity.
Development of courses and learning materials on regenerative agriculture to transform the sector’s narrative and promote a new production paradigm based on the regeneration of agave-growing landscapes.
